Why enroll in the Type Discovery Expansion program?

 

A popular saying we use in coaching is that “You have to go slow in order to go fast.” It simply means that if you work through an issue slowly and carefully, you can pick up your pace afterwards because you have developed confidence around the matter. Going fast too soon or before you’re ready causes problems—either because mistakes are made, or confidence is lacking.

 

This phrase applies perfectly to individuals with respect to type. Most people learn about type by taking a quickie assessment which returns them a 4-letter code.  The whole process takes only a few minutes.  And then afterwards they feel frustrated because they have so many questions! They have no idea of what it means or how it is to be used.  They make wild assumptions and jump to conclusions. A gnawing uncertainty grows about whether their result is correct (and even the most official and psychometrically robust assessment is estimated to be accurate only 72% of the time, so it very well may not be). 

 

Individuals often run to social media and post lengthy descriptions of themselves, begging complete strangers to weigh in.  They are invariably encouraged to take additional tests, which deliver conflicting or confusing results.  (And you know the definition of insanity, right?) Then they try to read everything they find online and become lost in a labyrinth of opinion, junk information, and fake experts, wasting hours charging down blind alleys and falling into rabbit holes.

 

In spite of these myriad obstacles, it is vitally important to know your type preferences, and even more important that you know what undergirds the type code.  Explicit awareness of your underlying values and motivations is a powerful asset, which your type pattern reveals.  People who don’t have the advantage of knowing their typology end up guessing about everything.  Their career path, financial choices, and relationship decisions are all based on incomplete and misleading information. As a source for discovering magical information about oneself, typology is a tremendous gift. It unearths values and allows you to live in conscious alignment with your innate preferences. But this is only true when your type pattern has been identified conclusively and you know something about what the model describes (hint: it's not about your looks!). 

 

Rushed assessments and glib opinions gained from social media are time-wasters and pointless distractions from the overriding goal of decisive accuracy and true knowledge. They cloud the truth and contribute massive confusion. Worse, most people treat type at a notably superficial level and rarely penetrate into the fathoms of what typology can offer. (They have no idea that it originates in a depth psychology.)

If you do not understand what that 4-letter code represents and what parts of your personality it’s describing after taking an assessment, then you’ve wasted even those 20 minutes.
