This has been one of those weeks where I felt as though I were running around and screaming at all my ducks to get in line—have you ever had that kind of week? It felt like too many balls were perpetually in the air at one time.
To make it worse, we’re in the Delta variant “hotspot” of the world. That’s concerning, even though both my husband and I have had our two Astra-Zeneca vaccinations. People have died even after being fully vaccinated. It just makes me want to curl up in bed and hide forever.
We went out during the week to get some Mexican food. Robin loves Mexican food, and it’s not easy to find in the U.K. (unlike Southern California). We located a restaurant in Manchester in an area nicknamed the “curry mile.” It felt as though we were back in New York City or Tokyo! The place was remarkably crowded, and it was fun to indulge in people-watching through the windshield (particularly with the predominance of Middle-Eastern garb that had me feel like I was on truly foreign soil). The purple Lamborghini roaring around on the street was a hoot! But with so few masks in sight, it was also stressful thinking about COVID being transmitted at high levels.
Luckily, there have been some sweet spots during the week too. Lorca is an old dog, and it’s lovely to walk him in the park nearby. Here’s a glimpse of him as we passed through a serene forest. This environment was a balm to my senses—so lush and green! Great Britain’s landscapes are beautiful. While I miss the golden sunshine of Southern California, it is heavenly to be surrounded by so much verdant greenery.
I am cooking up some new workshops and still aiming to get those ducks in order. I’ve continued recuperating from the intense efforts of the past month or so, but I hope to spin some new magic shortly.
